A Psalm 139 Devotion
Lord, in the quiet of this morning, I lift my prayer to you.
You Know Me
Thank you for the reminder of Psalm 139 that you are a God who knows.
You know me. (v1)
You know when I sit down. (v 2) You know when I need rest, and when I won’t rest. You know my schedule and my routines. You know what I prioritize.
You know when I rise up. (v 2) You know what prompts me to take action, what gets me riled up, what work I have to do. You know the pressures I am under.
You know my thoughts, my worries, my concerns. (v 2) You know what grieves me, and what comforts me.
You Know My Ways
You know my path; the way that I’ve traveled and the way I’m traveling. (v 3)
You know my situation; my heartaches, my burdens. (v 3)
You know my ways, my desires, my tendencies, my struggles. (v 3) You know the way I do think and the way I should think.
You know my words before I speak them. (v 4) You know the anxieties on my heart, the concerns I can barely formulate. You know what I’m really feeling. You know what I said, and what I meant to say.
You know me.
You Know My Future
And You know my future.
All that lays ahead that seems uncertain and scary— it is not unknown to you.
You know what is best for me and you cover me with your protection. “You hem me in, behind and before. You lay your hand on me.” (v 5)
The way you know me is beyond what I can comprehend. (v 6). How great and vast and deep are your thoughts!
Thank you, Father, for knowing me, for loving me, for saving me.
Walk with me today, Lord, and cause me to rest in the knowledge that I am fully known and fully loved.
